Designed by Summerour Architects, this residence at Blackberry Mountain was conceived in direct response to the natural slope of the land. From the arrival point, the house presents itself as a discreet single-story volume. As the architecture gradually opens toward the mountainside, however, the home unfolds across multiple connected levels, revealing expansive views and a stronger relationship with the surrounding landscape.
The material palette plays an essential role in this integration. Wood, dark metal, and large glass surfaces allow the structure to blend naturally into its environment while maintaining a continuous visual connection with the outdoors. Inside, the same architectural language continues through a restrained palette and selected textures. Materials such as bouclé, wool, and velvet introduce warmth and tactility, creating interiors that feel calm, grounded, and connected to the natural scenery outside. Rather than competing with the landscape, the interiors are designed to complement it.
At the heart of the residence, the family room serves as a more relaxed and social gathering space. This is where the Myface Fable hanging 2 seat becomes part of the experience. Suspended and oriented toward the view, the piece introduces a sense of lightness and movement to the room, creating a moment of pause and encouraging a closer connection with the surrounding landscape.
Built by Schmid & Rhodes and complemented by the landscape design of Hedstrom Landscape Architecture, the project is ultimately defined by harmony between architecture, interiors, and nature. Every element of the residence works together to create an environment that feels balanced, intentional, and deeply connected to its setting.
