Having outdoor furniture is assuming that human and natural unforeseen things can happen and may leave the pieces dirty. Fortunately, if the piece’s materials were suitable for the outdoors, there’s a solution, and cleaning them becomes a lot easier. In this way, you can have your brand-new piece in a matter of minutes.

Their cleaning and maintenance are not complicated but still require some knowledge on how to do it without deteriorating the pieces.

Outdoor Upholstery: Fabrics and Synthetic Leathers

Not many years ago, outdoor spaces were designed only to fill the space, which led to a space without life and even boring. The same happens with the materials that were too conventional and always the same.

Over the years, changes were made and the upholstery industry reinvented itself into the creation of more modern materials, perfectly suitable for outdoors and all outdoor living. This means that they can resist inclement weather, but also little accidents caused by humans.

Even though most upholstery materials require very little maintenance, there are still a few things to know about how to care for and maintain them. Let’s know the outdoor upholstery that Myface offers and the right ways to keep them always brand-new.

Fabrics

The most recent upholstered outdoor pieces have a UV and weather-resistant fabric. These characteristics are fundamental for outdoor use because they guarantee you a longer duration of the pillows and cushions.

Before performing any cleaning, please protect the velcro of the fabrics with protective velcro-proof tape.

All of Myface’s fabrics (such as pillows and cushions) have zippers that will facilitate the removal of their foam inserts, as well as their cleaning.

Daily cleaning of fabrics:

  1. Use a soft cloth to remove dust;
  2. If something splits and a stain occurs, act as soon as possible. Treat the surface with a white and well-cleaned cloth, damped with lukewarm water (it is recommended to begin at the edges, and go to the inner part);
  3. Only if needed, you can use a cloth gently moistened with a specific cleansing detergent. Avoid using it directly on the fabric;
  4. Let the fabric dry naturally, in the open air. Don’t iron or vaporize.

Tips:

  • Wash by hand. Don’t use wash in the washing machine;
  • Avoid vacuum cleaners or rug-beaters;
  • Wash the covers inside out. Helps to protect its colors;
  • Use neutral soap. Don’t use, in any circumstances, optical bleaches;
  • Avoid wringing out. Dry the covers by leaving them to flap to drip.

Synthetic Leather

Leather is one of the most durable, low-maintenance surfaces for home furnishings, but it still needs attention to stay always perfect and brand new. This material has been used since the most ancient times when the Romans used it as sails for their boats.

Daily cleaning of synthetic leather:

  1. In case of stains or spots, treat the leather with a clean white cloth damped with warm water. If it is oil stains, simply put an absorbent paper on the top of the stain. Do not apply pressure or the oil could get into the leather pores, making it difficult to remove it completely. Then, wipe it with a clean cloth and a neutral soap;
  2. To remove any drink spot, it is mandatory to stop the liquid with an absorbing paper. Then, remove the spot using a damp cloth and dry it, immediately, with a dry cloth. Let the leather piece dry, in the open air but not directly to the sunlight.

Despite these procedures, you need to follow all the manufacturer’s instructions as the pieces might have different cleaning instructions.

Myface would like to advise you that, if you are not using outdoor furniture, of any kind, consider covering it, especially during the winter times, when you also need to store it. All of this will certify the long endurance of the pieces for them to be brand new in the next outdoor season.
